Tool Room
The Tool Room team make and repair injection moulding and extrusion tools (comprising dies and calibrators) in house.
Highly engineered accuracy
Machined from scratch using solid blocks of steel, aluminium or plastic, tolerances are +/- 0.02mm (a fiftieth of a millimetre). For comparison a human hair is 0.1mm, so the tooling we fabricate is accurate to within one fifth of the thickness of a human hair!
Maintaining seamless operations
Working closely with the Maintenance team, the Tool Room team also conduct machinery repairs and help make improvements to facilities across Liniar’s operations.
We’re involved in both reactive and preventative activity, and the team usually starts its day by looking at any breakdowns that may have occurred the previous evening, as Liniar’s production lines run 24/7.
With any necessary repairs completed the team can focus on the new tooling made in house and any projects involving other departments such as Lamination and Mixing Plant.
A multi-skilled team
Our Tooling team comprises a mixture of manual and CNC machinists. It’s a relatively young team, and we have members who are apprentices attending college once per week. Liniar has a proud history of providing on the job training. The die cleaning team specialise in obsessing over small details. Their role involves stripping equipment down, checking for wear and repairing damage before reassembly.
what we value
Although formal qualifications are valuable, with a growth mentality and willingness to learn, many opportunities for development can be opened. Some of Liniar’s most senior managers began their careers in the Tool Room!
