Innovation and visible results
Its owner, Haven Holidays, identified a need to replace their existing 395-metre-long mesh fence boundary running between the edge of the park and the beachfront. The existing fence was not secure, was letting the sand through onto the site and was also less than pleasing to the eye.
The challenge
Haven invited a number of fence manufacturers to come up with a practical yet aesthetically pleasing solution to secure the site, with the additional remit that the selected new solution didn’t obscure the view to the beach for the holiday home owners situated along the boundary line.
British made and bespoke
Liniar was one of the brands invited to provide a solution for the challenge. As Liniar is a UK based manufacturer, it could react quickly to a bespoke request, going ahead to design and build an effective prototype very quickly.
The solution
Liniar’s prototype, made from durable lead-free uPVC (longer lasting than wood or metal in a salt air environment) comprised a bespoke beige fence, constructed from gravel boards at the base, which provided security and prevented the sand ingress. Picket fencing was then added to the top of the system, increasing the height and overall security of the fence.
The posts for this type of Liniar fencing would be installed in exactly the same way as concrete or timber posts – i.e. caps which are screwed to the posts for security with panels in between. The fencing system echoed the existing styling and colour of the holiday home sun decks, creating an overall coordinated and aesthetically pleasing result that did not obscure visibility of the sea view.
The Liniar fencing solution has the additional benefit of being maintenance-free, preserving its appearance over time with minimal attention.
The outcome
On seeing the Liniar prototype, Haven had no hesitation in choosing and installing the Liniar system. The installation of the bespoke Liniar fence at Thorpe Park was undertaken by GG Leisure Services, North Lincolnshire installation contractors with both Liniar and Haven approval status. They were already familiar with the park, having installed Liniar uPVC verandahs and sun decks for holiday home owners for several years.
The project was so successful that Thorpe Park went on to order an extension to the fence of a further 125 metres, with future extensions under consideration.
Andy Such, General Manager at Thorpe Park, commented:
“We were very impressed with the fencing solution that Liniar tailor-made for us – it ticked all our boxes. It’s secure and manages the potential ingress of sand into the park. Best of all, it doesn’t interfere with our customers’ view of the beach and looks great too!”
