Sizzling summer toy drive for Derbyshire WISH
Liniar has a proud history of creating social value, including working within the local community to offer support and make a difference.
This summer the Liniar team came together to help one of our key charities Derbyshire WISH, as part of our Summer Toy Drive.
Summer is a special part of the year for families, choosing to spend more time outdoors, getting lots of fresh air and taking advantage of the warm weather. However, those who have fled their family homes due to the impact of domestic violence won’t have the same access to toys and games to entertain children during the summer break, as in many circumstances they have had to leave most if not all their belongings behind.
Whilst Derbyshire WISH provides services and support to adults and children experiencing the devastating impact of domestic abuse, as a charity they are unable to provide small luxuries such as garden toys and board games which is where Liniar’s Kerry Sweet steps in. Kerry liaised with the organisation to find out what donations would be most helpful to them this summer.
Kerry acts as our lead point of contact with Derbyshire WISH, and she is always proactive and highly involved with organising the Liniar team’s efforts, making sure everyone is motivated to do their bit.
She explains,
Kerry continues,
This request was shared internally, and collection boxes were placed in high-footfall locations across Liniar. It wasn’t long before the toys started to come in and the boxes began to fill up. Kerry could often be found doing the rounds to check progress and visiting the different departments to raise awareness and ensure as many donations as possible were collected.
By the end of the appeal, team Liniar had donated an amazing 275 outdoor toys and board games! These were carefully packed up, and Kerry organised transport to get them over to Derbyshire WISH so they could be shared with the children who need them most in time for summer.
Dana Sabin, from Derbyshire WISH told us,
“Lots of children are going to be very happy, and we’d like to say a huge thank you to all the Liniar team for the donations and continued support.”
